I AM RUNNING FOR A CAN OF BEANS

It sounds like a kids tale and indeed it is but it’s set in adults world and it’s made of efforts, commitment, friendships, respect and solidarity.

The characters in this tale are a group of women, who have united their forces to realize a huge project for 245 children living in Kenia, in the small village of Mida.

Barbara Gattoni, Roberta Tosi, Cinzia Del Buono, Arianna Salin are the founders of Misheni na Ukarimu, a non-profit association implementing many projects in Mida by supporting the Missionaries, to provide instruction and assistance to children and their families. Nowadays the school is fully integrated within the local and not only cares about education, but also about a canteen service to help families in need and to teach a trade to older boys and girls in order to give them the right dignity. Among the forthcoming objectivest here is the realization of a "Health project" able to offer quality medical care especially to women and their children. Clinics are already being built, but much remains to be done, both for staff training and for purchasing the equipment.

And then there is Laura Trentani: an orthopedic medician with the passion for the mountains, nature and sport. Since 2015 she’s running all over the world to discover new places and to explore her limits. Her adventures and those of the Volley Team (named after her first dog who shared life with her and her husband Roberto) have always been associated with charity projects, becoming opportunities to be thankful for life and the opportunities it offers.

Also Laura has a new project: she wishes she could cross the Pyrenees without assistance.

She will run on the Great Crossing of the French Pyrenees, a long-distance trekking trail also known as GR10, starting from the beach of Hendaye on the Atlantic Ocean and finishing after 850 km and 60,000 meters of altitude positive and negative gain in Banyuls Sur Mer, on the Mediterranean Sea.

It would be a huge accomplishment that requires a great physical and organizational engagement, to face without improvisation and with the maximum respect for nature and its strength.

So the tale continues with a challenge that sustains another challenge, closing every effort to a common goal.

At this point, you might ask, "What’s a can of beans got to do with something?"

Laura agreed to share her challenge to support the realization of  the "Health project" in Mida.

Everyone can participate by donating 1 euro (symbolically a can of beans, an essential food in the village).

A very simple gesture, but only with many simple gestures great dreams can come true!

By clicking on the Donations button you can contribute to the initiation.
